For my OCHEM lab we did a kinetics of a substitution reaction. The experiment used kintetics, or reaction rates to explore how temperature affects reaction rates and predict how the solvent composition and reactant structure modified reaction kinetics. All reactions involved a solution of an alkyl halide in acetone that was added to aqueous sodium hyroxide containing bromophenol blue indicator.
For reactions 1-4, .1 M t-butyl chloride was used and .1M sodium hydroxide was used.
Reaction 5, .1M t-butyl bromide was used and .1M sodium hydroxide was used
